🌟 My Christmas Light Side Hustle Story & Your Guide to Earning Big! 🌟
Side Hustle Deep Dive
Hi Team, Noah (@noahxboa) here with a festive twist on making money!
This Christmas, I embarked on a unique side hustle journey – setting up Christmas lights for extra cash. It was a sparkling success, and I'm excited to share what I learned to help you light up your earnings this holiday season!

🎄 My Christmas Light Side Hustle Story: I decided to test the waters of this seasonal business. Equipped with a basic understanding of different Christmas lights, efficient wiring methods, and, most importantly, ladder safety, I set out to brighten up my neighbourhood. The response was incredible.
I’m well on track to make $1000 by the end of Xmas! 👇 (plus I’m giving the profit to charity :)

Here's how you can replicate this success:
1. Learning the Ropes: Before starting, familiarise yourself with various types of Christmas lights and their installation. YouTube is a goldmine for tutorials. Also, understanding ladder safety is crucial – we want a merry season, not a trip to the ER!
2. Crafting Your Offerings: Think beyond just hanging lights. I upsold additional decorations like light-up reindeer and festively lit bushes and trees. If a client doesn’t own lights, offer to supply them for an extra charge. It's all about providing a complete, hassle-free experience.
3. Pricing and Packages: Start with basic packages, then scale up based on the size of the house and the complexity of the display. Remember, upselling is key. My basic package included just the lights, but for a little extra, customers got those dazzling reindeer and tree wrappings.
4. Marketing Your Services: I made posts on local Facebook groups and Nextdoor. It’s amazing how quickly word spreads in these community networks. Before and after pictures of your work will be your best advertisement. I also designed a leaflet which I posted through the doors of the richest areas near me. It works a charm. (I’ll link that at the end of this read)
5. Safety and Legality: Investing in public liability insurance is a smart move. It not only protects you but also gives your clients peace of mind, making them more likely to hire your services. Also, bring along a mate to help, pay them a basic rate per hour: they’ll help you a bunch, especially for holding the ladder steady as you go up it!
6. Efficiency is Key: Develop a quick yet safe method for installations. The more houses you can handle, the more you earn. Also try to only do big jobs that pay more money, that way you won’t waste time driving to lots of smaller jobs that don’t pay well. That’s why I tried to target wealthy people lol!
7. Post-Season Strategy: Offering to take down the lights after the holidays is not just convenient for clients but also ensures you have business at the end of the season.
8. Building Relationships: Good service leads to repeat customers. Offer them a discount for next year’s setup or a referral bonus if they bring in new clients.
This side hustle isn't just about making money; it's about bringing holiday cheer to your community. The smiles and thanks I received were just as rewarding as the extra cash in my pocket.
