How to easily stay cool in the heat (but not break the bank) 👀
If you are like me and can’t afford one of those super-expensive air conditioning units, here are some cost-effective ways to stop the heat we’ve all been feeling lately!

Noah’s Top 7 Hacks 💡
1) Frozen Hot Water Bottle 🧊
This is a popular TikTok hack that involves freezing your hot water bottle. Fill it with water, pop it in the freezer, and then use it in bed to cool yourself whilst you sleep.
2) Shut blinds 🌞
Shutting your blinds and curtains during the day stops the heat from invading your rooms. Then when it gets cooler in the evenings open up your windows and curtains to let the cool air flow inside.
Bonus hack: in the evening when it cools down outside, put a wet bedsheet over your window. This allows cold water droplets to blow into your room!
3) Make your bedding cool 🥶
Firstly, remove your duvet from your bedsheets and just sleep with a sheet.
Also before bed put your bedsheets and your pillowcase into the freezer to help make it nice and cold for when you go to bed!
4) Use your fan in the right way 🪭
Freeze a bowl of water and then put it in front of your fan.
This will mean the fan can blow cold air particles towards you, plus because the entire bowl is frozen, it will last for a while!
5) Wear the correct type of clothing 👕
Wear clothes made from cotton or linen, as these are lightweight and provide the most breathability.
I have also found these relaxed cooling t-shirts from Hollister to work really well in the heat!
Also, make sure to avoid tight clothing, which can often trap heat and cause you to sweat more.
Bonus tip: wear lighter colours, like white and light blue. These won’t absorb the suns heat as much as black/ darker colours do!
6) Instant cooling in seconds 😅
By simply running your wrists under cold water you can rapidly cool down your body’s temperature.
Veins are closet to your surface by your wrists - so putting cold water there will cool your body fastest!
7) Grow more plants 🪴
Plants with lots of foliage and big leaves release moisture back into the air.
Putting several plants together helps to create an ecosystem that helps to improve the humidity around them.
How Does A Fan Actually Cost To Run? 💨
Generally, fans cost nowhere near as much as people think they do to run.
A standard £30 desk fan will use about 1 or 2 pence per hour of electricity to run on average.
And I wouldn’t worry too much about leaving your fan on overnight either, as electricity is actually cheaper at night as there is less demand!
