The sun today has been shining like mad! It’s making me (and probably you) feel as though summer will soon be upon us.

I know lots of you are into travelling - I’m going to the Netherlands later this week.

So… I it would be cool to share 4 of my favourite travel hacks so you don’t get caught out and spend more than you need to :)

Instantly Get 40% + Off Any AirBnb 🏘️

We all love Airbnb right? It’s so convenient and fun…

But the fees Airbnb add when you book to stay somewhere often increase the price of your stay by up to 50%. 🥴

Let me show you how to avoid this…

Here was an Airbnb I stayed in, at Cornwall.

For 7 days the total Airbnb price I was given was £2,572… 😳

This is too much. We can do better. 👀

All I needed to do to lower the price by over £1K, was do a reverse Google image search. 🔍

This allowed me to instantly find the original website for this holiday house.

I simply entered the same dates in on their website… Just take a look at the price difference…

£1,499. That’s over £1000 off for just 1 extra minute of work… 😅

Why does this work? Airbnb charges lots of fees for hosts listing their properties. But when hosts sell their places directly, via there own site, they can save on fees. 😎

Don’t Let Banks Trick You With Fees ❌

The easiest way banks make a killing is by confusing you when spending abroad… 🤷

Take this situation…

This is a common card machines companies use when you spend money abroad. The card reader will ask…

“Would you like to pay in your currency (GBP) or the local currency (EUR)?”

In the moment, most people freak out and don’t know which is best to press. But the answer is simple:

❌ If you pick your OWN currency, you’ll be given a poor exchange rate and the payment provider will profit off the difference.

✅ If you pick the local currency you’ll be charged the real exchange rate (so it’s the cheapest!).

Travelling Outside Your Country Can Be Cheaper… 🗺️

In the UK, booking a Spa Weekend away can be expensive…

Some companies will charge around £350+ per person. 😬

But did you know it’s actually cheaper to visit a world famous Spa in Romania for the weekend, than it is to go on a UK spa getaway?

Recently, I’ve seen a bunch of TikToks of people from around the UK, all travelling to Bucharest Romania 🇷🇴 to visit their world famous Therme Spa.

One woman broke down the costs.

• £30 for a return flight

• £50 for a hotel

• £29 for a Therma Spa ticket

*I’ve also seen many families travel from the UK to the Netherlands to visit the Dutch Center Parcs resort, as stays there are around £1000 cheaper when compared to stays at UK Center Parcs resorts.

Why is it cheaper abroad? These places may have less demand and the cost of living + expenses may be cheaper in these places.

Use The Right Payment Cards 💳

At the MINIMUM, you want to make sure you have a bank card that charges 0% foreign transaction fees.

Some good banks to check out are Monzo, Kroo and Revolut.

Beyond that, it can be smart to pay for your holiday, flights and anything else in advance on a credit card that has purchase protection.

This gives you peace of mind that if the company doesn’t deliver what they promised, the people at the credit card company will have your back in helping to reclaim the money! 🤝

• Anyway, because the Curious George movie has been doing the rounds on TikTok, I went back and listened to the soundtrack by Jack Johnson… and man it’s a bop!
