How To Get a Grip Of Your Money

I have just returned back from a lovely 2 day retreat at Champneys spa. My management arranged it as part of a wellness trip and it was wicked! The best bit was doing the ice bath. More on that in another newsletter!

Anyway, today I am going to give you the most practical and easy way to get your finances sorted…

If I ask you the question:

How much do you spend on subscriptions each month? - You probably won’t have a clue 😆

Or if I ask:

How much do you spend on food each month? - Again, you probably won’t have a clue… 😅

If you do have a clue - then you are ahead of 99% of people.

But this does raise a question…

Why does School not teach us the skill of budgeting and managing our income? 😅

Knowing exactly where your money goes is a vital skill that will save you thousands over your life. It also allows you to be more intentional with how you spend your money…

I believe any money we get is a gift from God. It’s a blessing. Us not having any control, or at least a good handle over this blessing, can soon allow it to become a curse.

We should have control over money and use it for what we want. We shouldn’t let money be something we end up letting get out of control.

So many people (including myself at many points) spend $100s on unnecessary subscriptions, overspending on unnecessary items and not using our money to give back or to secure our future by investing.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You simply need one tool…

A spreadsheet.

That’s it.

This spreadsheet should manage

• How much income you have coming in

• How much you have going out (including bills, subscriptions + allocations to monthly spending)

You can then use this amount to work out

• Which areas you need to cut back on ❌

• How much you can afford to save 💸

• How much you can afford to invest 📈

• How much you can afford to give to charity 😇
